Charity Football Match – Reigate & Banstead Mayoral XI

Next Sunday 23rd March is the date of a special charity football match organised through the offices of the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead, Councillor Dr Lynne Hack. The match is being played in support of the Mayor`s chosen local charities this year, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and Surrey Crimestoppers.

The match will be played between the Mayoral team consisting of players selected from local football clubs against a Chelsea team that includes some ex-players now employed at Chelsea in a coaching capacity.

The charity football match, which has received financial support from two local companies, is being played at Redhill Football Club’s ground at Kilnbrow. At half time, there’s a penalty shoot involving local children selected by the clubs participating in the Mayoral team, with local celebrity, Phil Tufnell as the goalie. After the match the children involved in the penalty shoot along with the ball boys and girls will be presented with a goody bag donated by Chelsea FC.

Chelsea hopes to bring Stamford, the club mascot with them, which is certain to be a great attraction especially for the little ones. Ticket are available at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill town centre or on the gate at Kilnbrow. Kick off is at 2.00pm.

Tickets are from the Harlequin Box office 1737 276500 at a cost of Adults £5 and Children £3.

Cllr Dr Lynne Hack during the sports show Live on Susy Radio.

Mark Lawson – Wassail Night

Traditional events in the countryside can be a little odd – The traditional Wassail ceremony dating back to Anglo Saxon times is one of those events.

Susy Radio`s Neil Munday dropped in on the village of Outwood here in East Surrey where villagers, accompanied by the Rampant Rooster Morris Men, hoodeners, geezers and general lords of misrule known as the loose association of wassailers with cannon and musket, spoke to Mark Lawson:

Dusting off the “cobwebs”…

It’s the time of year when Susy Engineers take kit out of service for maintenance and testing.

This weekend, as the weather is mild, is the turn of the Outside Broadcast Roadshow trailer which is loaned to Susy Radio by the Outdoor Sound Company and Chair Neil Munday.

Neil says
“good preventative maintenance and inspection helps the new season run smoothly.
Ok, the odd issue arises along the way but things do with a mobile unit containing 200m of Audio cabling. The unit has to be checked for road worthiness and safety plus, and fixings and fittings checked for security”.

SUSY Radio is lucky that Neil is a trained engineer from the sound and lighting industry, and also a qualified electrician – so knows his way around an XLR !
